Terms and Conditions

Hi! I’m Kat, the baker behind Layers by Kat. All of my cakes and desserts are handmade to order from my home kitchen in Ashford. Below you’ll find the terms I work by — clear, simple, and designed to keep things running smoothly for both of us.

Placing an Order
All orders are custom-made, so the more notice you give me, the better. Ideally, I need at least one week’s notice — but feel free to message me if it’s short notice, and I’ll let you know if I can fit it in.
Orders can be placed via my website form, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or email.

Deposits & Payment
To secure your order, I require a 50% deposit based on your custom quote.
The remaining balance is due on collection, and can be paid via bank transfer, cash, or Revolut.
No order is considered confirmed until the deposit is received.

Cancellations & Refunds
If you need to cancel your order:
– More than 48 hours before collection → Your deposit may be refunded.
– Within 24–48 hours of collection → The deposit is non-refundable, due to the preparation already involved.
If ingredients have already been bought or the cake is already in progress, a refund may not be possible.
If you need to make small changes to your design, let me know as early as possible — I’ll do my best to accommodate.

Collection & Responsibility
Cakes are for collection only from my home kitchen in Ashford.
If you’re running late, I can hold your order for up to 24 hours — but please contact me to arrange a new pickup time.
Once the cake has been collected and leaves my care, I cannot take responsibility for any damage during transport or handling.

Custom Designs
You’re welcome to send photos or inspiration — I’ll recreate your design as closely as possible.
That said, every cake is handmade and unique, so I don’t guarantee exact copies. Colours and shapes may vary slightly.

Allergies & Dietary Requests
All of my cakes are made in a home kitchen where common allergens are present, including: eggs, dairy, gluten, nuts and soy.
While I can make cakes without certain ingredients on request, I cannot guarantee any product is free from cross-contamination.
If you or your guests have allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know clearly when ordering.

Returns & Complaints
As all products are made-to-order and perishable, I do not accept returns.
If there is an issue with your order, please contact me as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to resolve it fairly.

Photos & Social Media
I reserve the right to photograph and share images of the cakes I make on my website and social media platforms.
If you’d prefer I don’t share your cake publicly (especially for surprise events), just let me know when ordering.

Data & Order Records
I store order details (name, contact info, cake notes) securely via email. Your information will never be shared or sold.
